In this economy, every 0.20/ gallon counts, every dollar per pound of meat matters! So yeah, sams is great for households that spend over $1000 per year there. (To recoup membership cost)

This is the last time I come in to buy tech from this location. There is never anyone to help in a timely manner. I have been waiting here for 20 minutes between buying a laptop that wasn't truly in stock even though the scan papers were full to now being refunded and waiting for help with the next laptop purchase. 4:00pm I don't know if everyone is on break or they are cutting hours.

We live in a small town with limited shopping availability, so when we need to make a trip to the 'big' city we make sure to get in some shopping. Sam's is always on the list. But, we are increasingly becoming less satisfied with Sam's. Prices are inching up, making them less competitive, they've discontinued some items we liked, and recently they changed the gas at the fuel center to E15 without lowering the price (our last visit saw their gas priced the same as stations in our town, so why bother, especially when our town stations offer tier 1 gas?). Another thing that has us concerned is the pending change to a scan and go shopping format. We understand some of the advantages in that, but we much prefer to use an actual cashier. Yes, we are the people still in line at a cashier, refusing to use self checkout. When it's all said and done, we still shop Sam's but not sure for how much longer.

This particular Sams was in Ames. It was smaller than the one in Ankeny but it was just a nice. The little Cafe was better than Ankenys though. The 2 people working it were very speedy and friendly. They did an amazing job keeping up the never ending crowd of customers.

2/3/26 12:15 p.m. We shop here almost once a week. If I could do 3.5 stars, I would. The store overall is always very well stocked. There are employees constantly making sure everything stays that way. Unfortunately, because of the mass quantity of stock, the quality is sometimes overlooked; mainly in the produce section. The produce can be hit or miss whether or not it’s gone bad and just hasn’t been pulled or is good with a few “bad apples”. The samples are definitely a nice touch while shopping and the employees handling them tend to know about the products, thankfully. Some employees seem to do everything they can to avoid being asked a question, while others go out of their way to help you, so service can be hit or miss as well. The food court is great! Lol. The low prices for the food are awesome and the food tastes great, so win-win there! Overall, this is a clean store with quite a bit to choose from, I just wish the fresh produce was better kept up with as well as the employee interactions.
